Child care health consultants: Ensuring healthy and safe child care environments

Description:

This brief will help states, territories, and Tribes reflect on the supports child care providers need as they reopen child care that closed during the pandemic. It will also help them come into compliance with health and safety training and standards (section 5 of the 2022–2024 state CCDF Plan). We aim to show how the development or expansion of a network of child care health consultants (CCHC) is one strategy for supporting the health, safety, and well-being of children in child care. With new funding from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, states, territories, and Tribes have an opportunity to build strong sustainable systems of child care consultation and build back better.
