Closing the leadership gap: 2021 status update on early childhood program leadership in the United States

This brief compares the 2017 and 2021 tallies of the number of states with policies in the following five areas: administrator qualifications in child care licensing standards, administrator credential, principal licensure, administrator qualifications in QRIS, and administrator qualifications in state pre-K programs. It also categorizes the states’ 2021 policy statuses within each of the five aforementioned areas.
