Head Start families’ program and selection experiences

This brief discusses factors affecting parent choice in selecting the right Head Start program for their child, what the child’s experience is in the program, and if the child will return to the program the following year. Some factors affecting family choice of a Head Start program include quality of program features, proximity to home, parent’s work schedule, and support of the child’s emotional and academic needs.
