This book is a compilation of 20 edited chapters and accompanying material on the concepts of equity and diversity as they relate to early childhood education. It starts with a compilation of definitions of “equity” and anti-racist/anti-biased work presented by about 10 named stakeholders. The next section contains chapters on the history of workforce education on equity, removing bias from ECE environments, leadership in equity, and recognizing shortcomings of the traditional knowledge base for workforce training. The remaining chapters examine pedagogical practices with the potential to promote equity and the use of early childhood spaces to promote social justice and equity goals. Also included is a copy of the NAEYC’s position statement, “Advancing Equity in Early Childhood Education.”
