This brief highlights research about the influence of Head Start and Early Head Start on children’s social-emotional development. Some specific influences noted are less aggressiveness, fewer behavior problems, more attentiveness, and reduced engagement in criminal activities as young adults. Additionally, there are explanations about why social-emotional development is important and how Head Start promotes social-emotional well-being.
