The Understanding the Value of Centralized Services (VOCS) project is a broad inquiry to examine the advantages, disadvantages, and costs of providing multiple social services for families with low incomes at one location. The project will summarize the findings from existing research on this topic. Building on this knowledge base, VOCS will conduct site visits to the following three local social services providers or networks of providers that have undertaken efforts to centralize services: Blackfeet Manpower One-Stop Center (MT), Neighborhood Place (KY), Wayne Metro Community Action Agency (MI). Using qualitative methods, VOCS will document client and staff experiences receiving and providing services at these sites. A final report will synthesize findings from the literature review and descriptive studies.
