Planting the seeds for change: Nurturing the promise for our children: Research and data assessment

Description:
This report is organized to provide a picture of Orange County using a wide-angle lens with demographic information and other community characteristics. These data show the diverse nature of the population from several perspectives. Based on several reputable research studies, the level of quality in early childhood programs is linked to child outcomes and whether or not children are ready for school. Recent literature supports the claim that high quality early childhood programs not only improve outcomes for disadvantaged children, but for all children regardless of socioeconomic status. This report, therefore, will examine indicators of quality in child care and early learning programs that have the greatest impact on outcomes. (author abstract)
