This brief reports on the use of child care assistance provided through the Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG) and the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) programs from 1998 through fiscal year 2013. It finds that CCDBG assistance declined to a 15-year low and combined CCDBG and TANF funding declined to a 10-year low. Appended to this brief is a state-by-state chart that displays the number of children served by CCDBG in 2006, 2012, and 2013.
