Description:

This tool helps policymakers better understand the challenges working parents face when trying to balance household expenses against the need for licensed child care. This tool uses median income by county, median statewide housing costs and average household expenses. Users can customize specific fields to reflect variations in expenses. The calculator also shows whether a family’s income level qualifies them for subsidized child care services. (author abstract)
