BPC’s interactive map quantifies the supply of, potential need for, and gaps in child care in 35 states in 2019. Working closely with officials from each state, this analysis incorporates the most comprehensive child care supply data collected to date and serves as the first study to both quantify the nation’s child care gap and do so in a way that factors in real parent choice data. The findings presented below offer a starting point from which the country can work to close child care gaps across the country. (author abstract)
