Voluntary school and child care lead testing & reduction grant program: Implementation document for states and territories

Description:

This document contains the state Voluntary School and Child Care Lead Testing and Reduction Grant Program implementation information for both internal and external stakeholders, including updates per the enactment of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (P.L. 117-58, Nov. 15, 2021), also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), to reduce lead exposure in drinking water at school and child care facilities through remediation. This document aligns with the historic effort of the Lead Pipe and Paint Action Plan to provide resources to local, state and federal entities to accelerate reducing lead exposure to children while focusing on low-income and often overlooked communities. It follows through on EPA’s on-going commitment to protect children’s health and reduce children’s exposure to lead in drinking water as described in the EPA’s Strategy to Reduce Lead Exposures and Disparities in U.S. Communities. It expands upon guidance and outreach to the federal and non-federal signatories of the Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) on Reducing Lead Levels in Drinking Water in Schools and Child Care Facilities. (author abstract)
