State information request: Trends in pre-K policies, costs and benefits

Description:

A legislative staffer asked three questions pertaining to pre-K: the number of states funding pre-K programs, whether full- or part-time; research on the outcomes of pre-K participation; and research on the economic returns of pre-K programming. Our response outlines compulsory education requirements, the short- and long-term effects of pre-K on outcomes, and what’s known about the return on investment in pre-K. (author abstract)
