A documentation of the distribution of children's time and basic teacher behaviors with regard to presence and direction across activity settings, an identification of patterns in children's interactions with teachers, peers, and tasks across classroom activity settings, and an examination of the relationship between children's interactions within classroom activity settings and gender, based on data from 40 teachers and 145 children from 44 classrooms in the central region of a mid-Atlantic state
