Summer Learning Program Quality Assessment: 2013 Phase I pilot report

Description:
In 2013, the National Summer Learning Association (NSLA), the field leader in summer learning, and the David P. Weikart Center for Youth Program Quality (Weikart Center), the field leader in quality improvement system-building, collaborated to raise the quality of summer learning across the country. In this proof-of-concept pilot, the project team produced measures, trained raters, and piloted a performance feedback model geared at quality improvement in summer learning programs in Grand Rapids, MI; Oakland, CA; and Baltimore, MD. The purpose of this report is to describe the concept that was tested for a summer learning quality assessment process, explain how it was implemented in this pilot, share feedback from participants and results from the data, and provide findings and recommendations for future implementation and development.
