This literature review was conducted to support the main project (Study on the effective use of early childhood education and care in preventing early school leaving) by presenting research evidence on the influence of early child education and care on children's further development. It covers topics such as types of quality, transitions to primary and secondary schools, risk factors and under-achievement, family background characteristics, education system factors, and policies.
