Child Care and Early Education Policy Research Consortium (CCEEPRC)

Supported by the Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation (OPRE) and the Offices of Child Care and Head Start, the Child Care and Early Education Policy Research Consortium (CCEEPRC) includes former and current grantees and contractors funded by the Administration for Children and Families to conduct child care and early education policy-related research.

The Consortium was created by the Administration on Children, Youth, and Families in 1995 to increase national capacity for sound child care research, identify and respond to critical issues, and link child care research with policy and practice. In 2015, to mark the 20th anniversary of the Consortium, members decided to change its name to better capture growing integration in the child care and early education field. The Consortium subsequently chose Child Care and Early Education Policy Research Consortium as its new name and expanded the focus of the Consortium activities to include research relevant to child care and early education policies.

CCEEPRC has historically held an annual in-person research meeting for its members that builds on in-depth roundtables and other activities throughout the year. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, CCEEPRC’s activities have shifted in format and frequency—and newly developed Research Collaboratives were launched in 2022. The Research Collaboratives were designed to create opportunities for our vast and diverse CCEEPRC membership to connect within the virtual landscape of our world in 2022-2023. As such, smaller, topically focused, intimate working groups were developed to support monthly connections across project teams and propel our work forward.

CCEEPRC members join with state, territory and local partners, technical assistance partners, and Federal partners from other agencies and departments at the  Consortium meetings and related activities to learn about emerging research findings, consider how the findings can be used to improve child care and early education policy and practice, and highlight new research questions and methodologies.

Research Connections supports the work of CCEEPRC by assisting in the collection and dissemination of research materials from Consortium meetings and related activities.
